This state of affairs is were you definitely do not want to get a lot of MARKS for your maths session.

During primary school days (mid 60s and aged 14), three consecutive home-work failures earned an after school detention. The homework had to be repeated, but on the black-board; not in your work book.

The other difference was that your pants hanging up on the hat peg and you undershirt was pegged halfway up your back. Without any verbal communication, each time you made a mistake, the tawse would kisssssssssss your seat of learning. Sadly for me, I was bad at maths and for obvious reason hated the subject at primary school. Riding my bike home after such a lesson, was a real uncomfortable. Ironically, I eventually graduated as a engineer. Mrs Gray would no doubt be intrigued to know that the 100 and 1..................plus sessions of 'private tuition' with her produced a positive result. She made a lasting impression on my mind as well as my bottom. Photos like this are stunning.
